Oh my... The latest run of the HRRR model seems to reaaally want to push a bad storm through our region tomorrow evening. These kinds of things happen in the models from time to time, but the general concentration of all these depicted storm swaths is the consistent/concerning aspect of tomorrow's severe weather risk. | Brandon Butcher

3/16/25 Sunday 10:10AM: Looking at the HRRR model run (for guidance only) over the next 18hrs, it looks like this front is going to slow down while clearing the coast but then a secondary front forms behind it. This setup is called a "wake low", where we see sinking air that warm along the backside of the main storm line while an aft area of low pressure forms. Even though this is small scale, winds could increase if we see re-energizing along the backside. And although the main line of showers/

Latest HRRR Model run continues to show a wet/stormy start to our Friday, but extends on & off rains/storms into the afternoon with a break later into the afternoon, then another smaller round of showers/storms closer to midnight...1-2" isolated 3" still looks like a good forecast...Any severe weather threat should be limited to extreme SW LA & perhaps coastal parishes. At least Saturday looks great! Power Doppler 3: https://bit.ly/3fwdoqt #acadianasdoppler | Rob Perillo Chief Meteorologist KATC

UPDATE: This run of the HRRR model to me is spot on after looking over late morning data suite. Scattered showers will continue rest of this afternoon. Maybe a t-storm. Severe risk by in large will be in Austin to Houston areas. BUT, I will watch northern Guadalupe, Gonzales, Lavaca Counties should a stronger storm clip in. My attention turns to 11pm - 1am out west. I expect to see a storms develop in northern Mexico to Val Verde County. Conditions tonight would support rapid strengthening and p

Latest HRRR Model run (00z) showing timing of potential storms including the helicity index (tornado spin potential)...look for where some of the dark purple to red spots show up, that's where the model thinks there could be "spin-ups"...but what happens in the models vs actual will be different. Per the severe weather outlook shown earlier, the greatest risk of isolated tornadoes will be along and north of I-10 through CenLa and into Mississippi. I expect one or more tornado watches for the Aca

The latest run of the HRRR paints a very active Thursday across West Texas. If this comes to fruition, we are in for a LOOONG day! What occurs overnight tonight will set the stage for what occurs tomorrow afternoon. Remain #WeatherAware!!! The potential for damaging wind gusts near 80 MPH, hail near softball sized (3.75" in diameter), and isolated tornadoes exists. Localized flash flooding is also expected, as some areas could see 2-4" of rainfall. Stick with KLBK for the latest details, and mak
