The arena director at Cheyenne Frontier Days sat a little taller in the saddle on Sunday watching his son's team roping qualifying round run with partner Brayden Wiesen. Zane Thompson grew up at Frontier Park and his father Frank took over arena duties from Tom Hirsig about a dozen years ago. Hirsig is now Cheyenne Frontier Days President & CEO. Zane & Brayden are both graduates of Burns High School and they finished well within the top 60 Sunday advancing to the first CFD afternoon performance

The 2018 Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Finals is a true rodeo classic. Held at Cheyenne’s storied Frontier Park, the event was interrupted by wild storms and tornado warnings, one triggering a brief evacuation. But the rodeo went on and those present at the Sunday finals witnessed Nellie Miller and "Sister" deliver a championship run in the middle of a hailstorm.
