Charlie used to be a chatty, socially motivated toddler. He’s now 10, profoundly autistic and can only communicate basic needs on his iPad. The CDC just released a paper stating that 26.7% of autistic people have #profoundautism , like Charlie. These people can’t advocate fot themselves, they can’t be on TikTok. So please, listen to autistic people but listen to caregivers too because they’re sometimes the only ones who can share those stories.

Thanks to ABA, Charlie has learned to communicate basic needs using an AAC device, he’s also learning self-care skills and safety. There’s never any punishment, and his therapists are like family. ABA isn’t about making an autistic person “non-autistic”, it’s about giving people with autism a chance at learning skills that many take for granted like communication, safety and self-care skills.
