Most builders just use cheap tape and hope for the best when it comes to small penetrations around a home. We don’t! When it comes to exterior hose bibs, we use a plumbing pipe flashing boot that actually slides over the pipe and seals tight to the wall system — then we tape it properly with ZIP System tape. Not generic tape. Not cheap flashing. ZIP tape bonds, seals, and lasts. Water intrusion is one of the biggest silent killers of a home. And it usually starts at small penetrations like this.
