This National Wildlife Day, we’re celebrating the impact wolves have on their ecosystem! When wolves were eradicated from Yellowstone National Park, the elk population grew significantly. Without a natural predator, these elk overgrazed, resulting in a lack of plant growth, other animals leaving to find better habitats, and river banks eroding. After wolves were reintroduced to the landscape in 1995, that all changed. Elk started moving around again, allowing for new plant life to grow. Songbird
