The measurement problem in quantum mechanics is the question of how a single definite outcome arises from the wavefunction. The wavefunction evolves continuously and deterministically according to the Schrödinger equation and can represent a superposition of multiple possible outcomes. But when a measurement is performed, only one outcome is observed.
