Appalachian curse words vs Emergency room nurse cursing. Different words, same purpose. Growing up in Appalachia, my family kept our language gentle. Instead of curse words, my Mommaw used sayings like pickle lily and fiddlesticks. I heard very little cursing on the mountain. Then I became an emergency room nurse 👩‍⚕️, where cursing is an art form. Still, I never cursed in front of my grandparents, because those word would have hurt them. 💔Later, traveling to Japan taught me something deeper.
